Easter Sunday

I have always enjoyed Easter.  Perhaps it is the timing of the year.  The “newness“ of spring here in the Northeast but for me it has always been one of my favorite times of the year.  I never understood when I was younger why we always scrubbed up cleaner on Easter than on any other day or Holiday.  The only day that you scrubbed up almost as clean for was the first day of school.   But my cleanest day of the year is Easter Sunday.  It always has been, it always will must have something to do with Christ Rising.   Every year my boys get new pants that they will never ever wear again.  They only wear them on Easter.  This year  I didn't even get a picture!  But I have the memory.  I managed to buy a nice lilac tie on Friday.  I think it will be my Easter tie, but I may break it out for a wedding or two.  So...

Interestingly enough............  My first Easter as a young Christian was spent sharing a morning “sun rise” service on the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ.  This was in 1988 and I cannot remember how many services to which I have been.  What is an amazing fact, is that when God positioned me at “SonRise” (haha) I believe we were doing joint “sun-rise” services with Grace Evangelical.  I could be wrong regarding that fact.  I do know that later on we did our own morning services...but I think this point is intact.  Well, since we have hooked up with the Union church in Seaside Park and have had several Easter “sun rise” services with them.  I can really only remember the sun rising at one of them since I have been at Sonrise. Meaning, it has been severely overcast or raining on most Easter Sunday morning's.  That April Shower thing Mother nature has going on....   About 4years ago there was an awesome true Easter “sun rise” with such a beautiful sun over the water...with a great message.

It was one of my most memorable Easter “sun rise” services was with our Elder Jamie who gave a great Easter message and the true meaning of the resurrection.  Jamie moved many people that morning.  What was amazing though...we had this great speaker, accompanied by freezing wind, with clouds overhead, but over the ocean, you could see the sun rising.  It was an amazing sight to see and a great service to be part of....

This year....  I will share some photos...and you can all be part of our joint venture.  Sonrise Community Church and the Union Church of Seaside Park.

Folks, this is the area in which I live.  Within 90 minutes of both cities, New York and Philadelphia.  For years before I met my wife I lived a block from these very scenes. (N street in Seaside Park)  I hope you all can smell the salt and feel the cold brisk Ocean air.  I currently live about 15 minutes away from the Ocean.  But...I live...15 minutes away from the Ocean.  Exactly that....it is there....for my beckoning when I need it.   I love SonRise's “sun rise“ services.  We usually have better church attendance.  I don't know what is going on there and that is people's own business.  But you all look and see...it was a great and wonderful time to be spent in His  presence.
