My two youngest boys, Andrew and Justin. One of my collection of best friends is getting married. His name is Andy. Andy and I were old roommates. If you recall he I mentioned Andy once before. He was famous for sleeping through the ordeal with New York's Finest in New York City after a Met's game.
When my wife was pregnant with our second child we were exploring names I mentioned Andy's name. It became a real contender. Cindy really liked Andy. Whenever we got together she and Andy would tease me to death. That was my wife's favorite hobby, teasing me...and she knew how to tease me. Get her and Andy together...it was lights out. It was always in great fun and I have to admit it was probably always because I started the teasing first. But Cindy loved Andy and when I suggested naming our second son after him, she readily agreed.
So...Andy is getting married in May. He sent out these great invitations and is having this wonderful outdoor reception and my whole family is invited. I have really gotten Andrew and Justin excited. I sat them both down and I looked into Andrew's eyes and I told him about how well Andy and his Mother used to get along. So well that she wanted to name a child after him. Andrew was thrilled and he can't wait to go to Andy's wedding and meet him.
Now...Justin is sitting there. He looks intently at me and with this great inquiring smile on his face he asks me, “Dad,....who am I named after?” Of course I have an answer. “Justin, You are named after my D and D character.” I tell you....Justin has a great sense of humor, he understood the fact he was named after a fantasy character that I made up. He laughed and laughed and laughed. We still laugh when we think about it.
Seriously folks. My wife never knew that when I suggested the name Justin that in college I had a Dungeons and Dragons character named Justin Case. He was a Level 12 Paladin. It is a funny story and even funnier now for an aspiring Minister to be telling. I am far away from that world...well...not as far as I think sometimes. I could play a little D and D and live inside my head again....lol.
Thinking now and contemplating a little deeper....I do not think anyone will ever hesitate to ever name their children Andrew or Justin. They are great names, these are two great boys.
