After Church today the Meyer family and my family including my future wife and daughter went to the “Greek Festival” down the road. It is an annual event that I have now gone to three years in a row. There is dancing and food but most of all there is the fellowship that you bring with along with yourself.
I always enjoy being with the Meyer family. Bill has become like a brother and I really enjoy spending time with him. As the wedding draws closer I realize that besides Sue, Bill is one of the keys to the wedding. He of course will be marrying us and because of his experience I have confidence that this will be a great ceremony. The last two I have been to have been phenomenally blessed and well planned. Bill of course is the driving source.
The Greek Festival was held at St. Barbara's and I was impressed with the Church. Not one to be overcome by icons is reflected by the front of our church. We have a small cross on the Communion table. A cross in the front that sits on a speaker, and a palm tree. Basically we have the palm tree because it is green....and supposingly refreshing.
But I confess that the beauty and colors that I saw today assisted me completely into fellowship with God. The iconology tells some incredible stories as you look around the Church. Explore St.Barbara's web site. It is a Greek Orthodox church and I was incredibly blessed by the people that shared its history. The person that actually does all of the “paintings” is called the iconographer. Fascinating. Not something I would see every week in an Evangelical Church, but I really appreciated it today.
