Madison is my Yellow Lab that came with marriage to Sue. She really is a wonderful dog with all of the wonderful traits that come along with a fine animal. She is devastatingly loyal, happy, and loving. She is constantly seeking affection and loves scraps from the table. Too many scraps.
Recently Sue noticed that after running she would labor to get up. Madison is only 7 years old and a little young to be suffering similar to an older dog. So, Sue called our vet and spoke to him. She described the ailment...and quite curiously he replied, “I am having a little problem with my license right now. But if you want me to see Madison, bring her to the back door tomorrow and I will look at her.”
Sue, who loves her dog so much and wanted to have her seen quickly did not question this practice. Dutifully the next day, she brought Madison to the vet across the street and knocked on the back door. A young woman came to the door and looked quizzically at her. Sue explained she was there to see the vet. The woman laughed. She asked Sue if she the vet had told her to come to the back door...Sue replied yes....uncomfortably.
It turns out that Sue had called the wrong veterinarian. There was a problem with the phone book or Verizon's information and they were handing out this guy's phone number. Apparently he is going a little cuckoo and lost his license. Apparently there had been a history of people showing up at the back door of our Vet's seeking help because of getting the wrong phone number.
When Sue told me this story...I could not stop laughing. I thought it was strange that she would go to the back door of a vet for help. I can still picture it....
Turns out Madison does not have any form of hip displacement. She is just needs to lose 20 pounds that is aggravating her rear end. Poor dog. She is never ending begging for food that she cannot have. Almost makes me feel guilty eating in front of her....and I need to lose more weight than her myself.
